Tree permits in Beachwood
Beachwood's Tree Removal and Replacement rules (Section 17-36) cover street trees of 2.5 inches DBH or more and non-street trees of 6 inches DBH or more, and generally require replacement trees. The borough's Tree Removal Permit Request form asks for the number of trees, the reason, and the company doing the work, and lists a $10 fee (Beachwood tree ordinance, Construction/Zoning). Confirm with the borough before work starts.
Local notes
Beachwood is on the Pinelands Commission's list of Pinelands municipalities (Pinelands Commission). On small lots, sectional removal with ropes is often the safest approach; your tree company can tell you what fits your yard.
Before you hire
New Jersey requires tree care businesses to be licensed through the NJ Board of Tree Experts. Ask for the company's Licensed Tree Care Operator number and certificate of insurance. For stump grinding, the free 811 utility markout is required before digging (NJ One Call).
Storm damage or a tree on a wire?
If there is immediate danger, call 911. Stay away from downed lines and report them to your electric utility. Then see what to do after a storm and what insurance usually covers.
